Understanding Your Dynamic Posture

Your posture is far more than a mechanical alignment; it is your physical approach to life, capturing how you orient to your environment and process emotion. Conventional training programs often attempt to force the body into an external "ideal form," accidentally reinforcing deep-seated structural imbalances and chronic core tensions. Designed specifically for Pilates instructors, this transformative workshop shifts the paradigm from training muscles to changing perception. Through body awareness and Pilates movement, you will learn to synchronize the body's internal and external wave patterns, restoring its natural alignment and fluid responsiveness. By analyzing six key postural segments—from the feet to the head—through both a physical and emotional lens, you will discover how to use gravity as a dynamic partner, unlocking a profound sense of integration, grace, and vital expression for both yourself and your clients.

Participant Fee: $500 (or $400 if also registering for the November 7 CPE)

Roxane Richards Huang is a Romana's Pilates International Level X Senior Master Instructor Trainer and started teaching in 1989 in New York City with Romana Kryzanowska. Roxane earned an M.A. from New York University in Performance and Choreography in Dance, and a B.S in Dance from Shenandoah University. Roxane graduated from the Swedish Massage Institute in New York City as a Licensed Massage Therapist. Roxane was one of the first handpicked Teacher Trainers chosen by Romana Kryzanowska, a direct disciple of Joseph Pilates. Roxane studied and taught alongside Romana and Sari Mejia-Santo (Romana’s Daughter) at Drago’s Gym, in NYC for 10 years. She also worked at JRW Physical Therapy in New York City for 10 years where she had clients with a wide range of injuries, as well as with professional athletes. Since 2003 she has run her own Pilates studio in Vancouver, WA, near Portland, OR. Roxane continues to travel training students and teachers from all over the world.

Zein K. Chahine, RPTT, ACCEP, CPM, is a Level III Romana’s Pilates Instructor Trainer with more than 20 years of global experience teaching and training instructors across four continents. Her deep expertise in structural alignment is enriched by advanced certifications from the Centre for Spatial Medicine, Anatomy Trains in Motion, and Body Reading, as well as her role as an Advanced Core Energetics Practitioner and faculty member at the Core Energetics Institute in New York. She expertly bridges Romana’s Pilates precision with a profound understanding of the fascial system and body centered psychotherapy. Zein specializes in assessing dynamic posture and resolving deep-seated physical and emotional holding patterns. She empowers people to master body mechanics, release structural tension, and achieve a profound, lasting sense of integration and aliveness.

Looking to supplement your private lessons? Enjoy working out with a group? Our Small Group Classes offer the community of a class while allowing for personal instruction at less than half the cost of a private lesson. We now offer Small Group Classes at the following times:

• Mondays, 6 PM: Intermediate Tower Mat Class with Dawn
• Thursdays, 6 PM: Beginner Pilates Class with Dawn
• Fridays, 7 AM: Intermediate/Advanced Tower Mat class with Dawn
• Saturday, 8 AM: Intermediate Reformer Class with Jamie

Classes must have a minimum of two people to run and will have a maximum of five people to ensure personalized instruction. Just like our  private lessons, clients must register for classes by calling the studio and signing up for desired class. Clients may book a standing spot in a class, but  must cancel 24 hours in advance to avoid being charged. See our Rates page for Group Class rates.

We will begin the next program for students who are interested in becoming certified instructors through Romana's Pilates International in 2027. If you are interested, please contact the studio as soon as possible to schedule a lesson to assess your skills. Students must pass an assessment with Rhonda Celenza to be admitted to the program. In addition to Rhonda, we have two Level IV instructor trainers at Pilates Connection who can prepare you for your assessment. 

Guidelines for entering the program require that students:

• perform an Intermediate Reformer with transitional Advanced exercises and know purposes for each exercise;
• perform an Advanced Mat and know purposes for each exercise;
• demonstrate familiarity with Intermediate and commonly taught Advanced exercises on other apparatuses.
